Ayurveda & Herbs

From an Ayurvedic perspective we are never broken, we have simply become imbalanced and our bodies hold the innate wisdom to bring ourselves back into balance.

It is this perspective of wholeness that first brought Trish to study Ayurvedic principles. At the time Trish was navigating a severe pitta dosha (fire) imbalance as a result of a number of unprocessed traumatic life events, single parenting, and a high stress career. This imbalance also led to a diagnosis of PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) due to cyclical symptoms of depression, lethargy, emotional eating, anger, rage, and paranoia for half of every month.

Of course, these unpleasant symptoms were also the body’s way of communicating where and how Trish’s system was out of balance. They were what led them on their healing journey, complete with dietary and lifestyle changes.

They are also what motivated Trish to enroll in a 6-month community herbalism apprenticeship with Spoonful Herbals under the guidance of Katherine Elmer and Kara Buchanan, and the 200-hr Ayurvedic Immersion Program at the Vermont Ayurvedic Center, which has direct lineage to the Ayurvedic teachings of Dr. Vasant Lad.

Trish knows what it feels like to not have your own experience of your body taken seriously by wellness professionals, and the at-times overwhelming confusion, shame, and despair that can take hold when you are addressing deep seated imbalances in our mind, body, and spirit.

While Trish is not a clinical herbalist or Certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Trish has interwoven Ayurvedic principles into their Spiritual Somatics Programs. Through the lens of Ayurvedic Psychology, Trish works with you to address the overall shape of your life and discuss how to welcome in long term, sustainable routines and practices that nourish your mind, body, and soul. This holistic approach is less about diagnosis, and more about creating a pathway to optimal health and well-being that feels achievable and supportive.

Combining their Ayurvedic training with their knowledge of yoga and herbalism, Trish works in collaboration with clients to institute 1% changes by creating comprehensive lifestyle shift plans that operate on the level of diet, supplements, daily routine, yoga, and other spiritual practices. We move at your own pace and your growth edge.
